January VCSU Meeting at 12:30

Our next Veterans Coalition meeting is Tuesday, January 20 at the Southern Utah Veterans Home — at a slightly different time, 12:30 p.m. This time adjustment is for one day only as the Veterans Home has another event scheduled later in the afternoon.

Starting in February, our meetings will be at the new St. George City Hall building in the first floor Council Chambers!

In meantime, in order for us to stay on track at the meeting, could you please email me with any items you would like on the agenda by 10 a.m. on January 20. Thanks!

David

P.S. Starting in February, I would like to have these meetings on the second Tuesday of each month as opposed to the third. This is to avoid having them on the first day following a holiday weekend, which happens 3 times each year! If you have any thoughts or objections on that, please let me know.

October Meeting Cancelled - Next-January 20

As it turns, the Utah Tech Zion Room is not available for tomorrow, so we will cancel the meeting. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

With there being no December meeting on account of the holidays, our next VCSU meeting will be Tuesday, January 20. This will likely take place in the new St. George City Hall (61 S. Main Street). Once we are fully moved in and can schedule out rooms, I will make an announcement.

Thanks,  David

If you have an item you would like on the agenda, please let me know before 11 a.m. tomorrow. As always, having items on the agenda helps me apportion time appropriately so that we can discuss all that we want to in the one hour we have.

See you at Utah Tech!

9/11/25 - Patriot Day

Hi everyone,  each year, the City of St. George pauses on September 11 to reflect, honor and remember.

➡️ Join us Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Historic Town Square for our annual Patriot Day: Remembering 9/11 program.

This year, we are honored to welcome Victor Guzman, a 9/11 survivor, whose story of resilience and hope will inspire us all.

The evening will also include:

🔔 Bell tribute from the St. George Fire Department

🎶 Performances by children’s choirs and bagpipes

🎡 Free carousel rides and kids activities

  And a Flag retirement ceremony

📍 Don’t miss the Field of Heroes display, Sept. 10–13 — featuring 343 American flags in honor of the first responders who gave their lives on 9/11.

August VCSU Meeting

Hi everyone,  Our next veterans coalition meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 at 1 p.m. at the SOUTHERN UTAH VETERANS HOME.   Please do not go to Utah Tech this time. All you will see there are bewildered new students trying to get their bearings. 🙂

This is a special meeting, and not just because of the location. We will spend the lion's share of the meeting talking about our various Veterans Day events and what we can do to support each other. I anticipate this meeting lasting 90 minutes to 2 hours, so heads up.

I know that there are three main Veterans Day events, which include:

Veterans Day Parade and program in Washington City

Veterans Day event at SunRiver

Veterans Day event at Utah Tech.

We will want to discuss what these events will include and what needs may be present.

We will also have our regular meeting items as well, so PLEASE send me your agenda items by the end of the day Monday. I look forward to seeing you Tuesday, August 19!
