Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 90 building (245 N 200 W in St. George). For those of you who have not been there previously, or don't remember exactly where it is, it is the bungalow that sits behind and to the south of the St. George Active Life Center.
Please email me before the end of the week if you would like to have an item to discuss. I am hoping we can have a great turnout!
Thanks, David
VCSU News
With no meeting this month, I wanted to send you a few updates.
1) Fundraising continues for our Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. We are getting close, but we have slowed up a bit on individual contributions. Don't miss this opportunity to get "skin the game" and contribute to the memorial. Go to GOLDSTAR for details on how to donate.
2) There is a fundraising campaign for the late Rick Massey, who has a longtime member of the Marine Corps League and instrumental in the Toys for Tots campaign. The goal is to purchase a memorial bench in Rick's name to reside at the Tonaquint Cemetery. Details on how to contribute can be found here: RICK MASSEY BENCH
3) On Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at Historic Town Square, the City of St. George will host an event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the attacks of 9/11. This was heavily attended a year ago and you will want to get there early. Please bring your own chair.
4) Also on Sept. 11, the Country Road Music Festival has teamed up with the Life's Worth Living Foundation to bring the Tom Proctor Band to open for Nathan Osmond at the Historic Electric Theater from 6 pm to 8 pm. The proceeds from this event goes toward helping prevent veteran suicide. Seating is limited to about 300. Tickets can be purchased online.
5) Save the date: In-person coalition meetings return to the American Legion Post 90 building on Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. See you all there!
Thanks,
David
