Veterans Coalition meeting Tuesday, October 17, is at the Southern Utah Veterans Home, at 1 p.m.
Welcome to Veterans Calendar, an event calendar for Veterans of Southern Utah, including the Southern Utah Veteran Service Organizations. It is intended to cover veteran-related events in the Southern Utah area, giving dates and addresses and which branch is sponsoring said event.
This is a great opportunity to visit the facility to learn more about how the SUVH fulfills its mission statement to “…care for veterans, families of veterans, employees, and our community.”
During this event, there will be music, prizes, giveaways, facility tours, food, and a short program featuring a special guest speaker. Everything at the event will be entirely FREE, including the food! Everyone is invited.
I think many of us have not been out to the Veterans Home since before the COVID-19 pandemic, so this is a great opportunity to refamiliarize ourselves.
Thanks, David
I would love to see members of our Veterans Coalition attend our 9/11 commemoration event (Patriot Day: Remembering 9/11) at Historic Town Square, from Sept. 9-11.
Here is what we have in store this year.
• The commemoration program is set for Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at Town Square, near the splash pad.
• The Field of Heroes, set for the lawn just to the west of the Gold Star Memorial, will be set up the afternoon of Sept. 8 and stay up through the morning of Sept. 12. This is being set up by the Dixie High School Air Force Junior ROTC.
• On Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. there will be a flag retirement ceremony, conducted by the Sons of the American Revolution. This is new for 2023.
• On Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m., Concert in the Park at Vernon Worthen Park features a patriotic concert with local favorites such as Eric Dodge. I think the tone struck in this concert will be reverence along with an uplifting reminder of how we were united as a country in the days after Sept. 11, 2001.
Thanks, David
